44 Never Have I Ever Questions, Mild to Brutal

2026-10-04

Two rounded blob characters on a rug at night with a warm lamp behind them, one tipped back mid-laugh and the other leaning away

Never have I ever is a confession game pretending to be a drinking game. The questions that work are the ones where admitting it costs you a little, and the ones that fail are the ones nobody has ever done.

These are grouped by that cost. The first eleven are safe enough for people you just met. The last ten are for people who already know most of your history.

Numbers 34 to 44 swap the format to most likely to, which is the same game pointed at the group instead of at yourself.

Safe enough for strangers

Everyone is guilty of most of these. That is what makes them a good opening: nobody is exposed alone.

  1. Never have I ever pretended to understand a film everyone else loved.

  2. Never have I ever left a group chat and hoped nobody noticed.

  3. Never have I ever taken a photo of a menu instead of reading it.

  4. Never have I ever walked into the wrong room and kept walking confidently.

  5. Never have I ever said yes to plans I was already planning to cancel.

  6. Never have I ever reread a message I sent to check it sounded normal.

  7. Never have I ever let a call ring out and texted back instantly.

  8. Never have I ever pretended my phone died.

  9. Never have I ever bought something because the queue was short.

  10. Never have I ever agreed with a review I had not read.

  11. Never have I ever kept a gift I actively disliked for over a year.

Mildly embarrassing

The group where people start saying wait, does this count. It counts.

  1. Never have I ever rehearsed a conversation that never happened.

  2. Never have I ever searched for someone I had already decided not to contact.

  3. Never have I ever cried at an advert and blamed something else.

  4. Never have I ever told a story as mine when it happened to someone I know.

  5. Never have I ever pretended to have finished a book I abandoned on page thirty.

  6. Never have I ever kept a tab open for a month instead of deciding.

  7. Never have I ever gone back for a second look at a shop I walked out of.

  8. Never have I ever practised a laugh.

  9. Never have I ever claimed to be on the way while still at home.

  10. Never have I ever changed my mind because of how someone said it, not what they said.

  11. Never have I ever argued a point I had stopped believing halfway through.

For people who already know you

Save this group for later in the night, and only with people you would tell anyway.

  1. Never have I ever stayed somewhere a year longer than I wanted to.

  2. Never have I ever let a friendship end by simply not replying.

  3. Never have I ever kept a secret that would have helped someone to know.

  4. Never have I ever apologised without meaning a word of it.

  5. Never have I ever been relieved when a plan I wanted fell through.

  6. Never have I ever envied a friend and said nothing about it.

  7. Never have I ever chosen the easier version of the truth.

  8. Never have I ever known a relationship was over months before I said so.

  9. Never have I ever let someone believe I was fine to avoid the conversation.

  10. Never have I ever wanted to be asked and refused to say so.

  11. Never have I ever regretted leaving more than I expected to.

  12. Never have I ever forgiven someone and kept the record anyway.

Most likely to, if the group is big enough

Same game, pointed outwards. Everyone votes at once by pointing, and the person with the most fingers at them explains themselves.

  1. Most likely to reply to a message six days later as if no time passed.

  2. Most likely to make friends with the staff within ten minutes.

  3. Most likely to lose a passport and stay calm about it.

  4. Most likely to start a project this week and abandon it next week.

  5. Most likely to remember a small thing you said two years ago.

  6. Most likely to end up in a long conversation with a stranger on a train.

  7. Most likely to pay for everyone and refuse to be paid back.

  8. Most likely to argue with something written on a sign.

  9. Most likely to move abroad with two weeks' notice.

  10. Most likely to give advice they have never once followed.

The one rule that stops it turning into an interrogation

Anyone can pass, once, without saying why. Without that rule the game stops being a game. One person goes quiet, somebody pushes, and the rest of the night has a bruise on it.

Keep the groups in order too. A table that opens with the third group does not warm up, it freezes. The safe questions are not filler, they are the thing that makes the honest ones possible twenty minutes later.

And whoever asks a question has to answer it. It sounds obvious. Watch how often the person asking quietly skips their own turn.
